Feedback just in from owner of the first "35"! ......

"You already know this of course, but the car is awesome - everything I hoped it would be and more besides. Very well-matched engine for this application, good brakes and astonishing handling and ride compared with an ordinary Defender."

JE-TechnoRaid-Team Gibon Bowler Wildcat 2nd overall (behind an Enduro prototype!) and FIRST in Class T1

(Drivers:  Nicolas Gibon, Thierry Charbonnier, Patrick Martin, Yves Fromont)

A magnificent performance!  Congratulations to the drivers, all the lads at Technoraid and, of course, Stuart and Rob at JE who built the engine.  24 hours of flat-out all-terrain racing is as tough as it gets.  After a race-long duel with the winning Enduro prototype (which a Bowler should have no chance of beating!) the Bowler finished a lap in arrears but 6 laps ahead of the 3rd placed Mazda and 4th placed Hummer.  To give you an idea what these 24hr TT's are all about here is an atmospheric video from our friends in the Hummer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsfVfr4iwLo&feature=related It's all a bit frenetic sometimes, of course.  The Bowler engine was built on Friday, dyno'd on Monday, collected on Tuesday, fitted on Wednesday, taken to Portugal on Thursday, practiced on Friday, raced on Saturday and won on Sunday!!!  A bit like the Life of Solomon Grundy really :-)

That's what JE do, though!  We didn't get where we are today by Green-Lane-ing on a Sunday afternoon!!!

For nearly 35 years JE Engineering Ltd has been synonymous with high performance Land Rover vehicles. Justly famous for extracting an indecently high level of power from the venerable Rover V8 engine (which they still do!) JE now concentrate their efforts on the Rover/Jaguar power units both petrol and diesel. From the iconic Defender to the Range Rover, the ultimate SUV, JE continue to improve the breed.

JE concentrate on producing power with environmental responsibility. Currently their three flagship conversions demonstrate the way JE are moving forward. At the high end of the market JE produce the TdV8-JE Range Rover. Powered by a JE modified diesel this unique vehicle boasts 315bhp and a stump-pulling 800Nm of torque, all delivered with the elegance and presence that is a Range Rover. That is not the limit however, far from it! Beyond the JE TdV8 thunders the JE “Zulu” the most outrageous Land Rover ever!

460bhp of raw supercharged JE power ………in a Defender!!

And now, to celebrate 35 years of continuous innovation and market leadership, JE are proud to introduce the "JE-35".  Powered by the Jaguar/Land-Rover AJV8 in normally-aspirated 4.4 litre form with switchable petrol/LPG dual-fuelling and driving through an electronically-controlled auto-gearbox, this is the car all Defender enthusiasts have been waiting for since the demise of the 'NAS' and '50th'!!

These are not agricultural lash-ups knocked up in a shed and tried up the road. They are developed by engineers and tested to destruction on the German autobahn and the most inhospitable terrain on the planet because JE are still involved in motor sport at the highest level, as they have always been, preparing cars for desert rally-raids, culminating in the Dakar. Lessons learned assist JE's ongoing development of brake, suspension and transmission systems. JE are much more than just an engine developer and  supplier. We illustrate every day that automotive innovation is still very much alive in Coventry, the cradle of the British motor industry.

"....Land Rover fans now have the ultimate answer to the anti-SUV lobby - a mega 450bhp Defender! Specialist British company JE Engineering has just launched the 'Zulu'. A Defender so fast, it's had to artificially restrict the top speed. It 'only' does 125mph. How so? Courtesy of a 4.2-litre supercharged V8, that's how. The company has fitted an engine normally found in the Range Rover Sport, to Land Rover's most iconic model. And that 450bhp power output is, apparently, conservative.
'Yes, the Zulu is outrageous!' said company spokesman Colin Musgrove. But there's also a green angle in the story, too. 'The Zulu is the precursor of diesel and hybrid versions which are intended for fast-response vehicles in extreme terrain. The Zulu has a great deal of method in its madness!'
And mad it is. So powerful is it, JE has also had to fit uprated suspension, massive 6 pot AP Racing disc brakes and a transmission that's toughened to Dakar-spec strength! Buyers can choose either automatic or manual, and company hasn't forgotten the luxuries, either. It comes with leather interior, air con, plus full in car media with navigation and telecommunications. Also standard are forged magnesium alloys and beefed up exterior styling. If you want to go to town with the world's fastest and most extreme Land Rover, there's really nowhere else to look..." ....SuperDefender Roars!  Richard Aucock.  MSN Motoring. March 2009
