FAQ's
Q: Is JE Engineering an established company?
A: We have been in business since 1975 (See Company History) and have been involved in building Rover high performance engines for the road and competition since 1978. Our dedicated Team of engineers, technicians and admin are based in a purpose built facility south of Coventry.
Q: Will my converted vehicle be safe and reliable?
A: All our bespoke conversions have been thoroughly tested to the same standards as required by O.E. manufactures.
Q: Do JE have the relevant engineering expertise?
A: We were the first company to offer 3.9, 4.2, 4.5, 4.8 ,4.9 & 5.0 litre conversions for the Rover V8. The design rights for the 4.2L engine were purchased from us by Land Rover for use in the last version of the Classic Range Rovers.
Q: How long does it take to convert a vehicle?
A: Conversions can take from a few hours to around two weeks depending on the specification. Examples: Diesel rechipping about one hour; replacement gearbox and transfer box on Defender, one day; Sports kit: 3-4 days; 5 litre conversion 1-2 weeks.
Q: Why don't you use big American engines?
A: We stay with the light aluminium V8 engine for which the vehicle was designed rather than changing to a heavier steel unit which would upset the balance and handling of the car. The manufacture's management systems can be maintained on our vehicles, after conversion, in order that all the original options can continue to function flawlessly. This applies to the ride quality and refinement as well as performance since the whole system is inter-linked.
Q: Can my local dealer service my car?
A: Servicing can be carried out in the same way as on any other Land Rover as all standard service items are carried over from original vehicles. Our vehicles also run the standard management systems so they can be diagnosed by Rover service computer systems.
Q: What about warranty?
A: All our products are sold with a 12 month warranty.
