A Dab of Oppo!

Has Sniff Petrol’s ( http://sniffpetrol.com/category/troy-queef/ ) Troy Queef been exposed at last?  When we see some customised Defender described recently in an LR magazine as “A contender for (sic) the 'Plushest Defender 110 ever' contest”  it got us thinking and we reckon we are on to something!  Leaving aside the fact that JE are normally into functionality, not plushness, this rather ordinary vehicle, smart though it was, hardly warranted such hyberbole…unless…of course, the article had been written by Troy!  This got us hastily checking to see what ‘Troy’ had written about our products!  Yes, here’s ‘Troy’ on the JE-35 “…My eyes scan the road ahead. There’s just enough room to get past the Sunday driver pootling along in front. I boot the throttle, the gearbox drops a couple of ratios and the Defender accelerates hard. I pass the slowcoach in a couple of seconds and the engine note returns to a low burble as I return to cruising speed. Wow — that was impressive…”  Pure Troy! (check out the pdfs on the Home Page if you don’t believe me!)  Sadly, “…the back stepped out so I gave it a dab of oppo and I was away” bit was missing, but we think the evidence is conclusive!!

JE Win Again!!

JE-TechnoRaid-Team Gibon Bowler Wildcat 2nd overall (behind an Enduro prototype!) and FIRST in Class T1

(Drivers:  Nicolas Gibon, Thierry Charbonnier, Patrick Martin, Yves Fromont)

A magnificent performance!  Congratulations to the drivers, all the lads at Technoraid and, of course, Stuart and Rob at JE who built the engine.  24 hours of flat-out all-terrain racing is as tough as it gets.  After a race-long duel with the winning Enduro prototype (which a Bowler should have no chance of beating!) the Bowler finished a lap in arrears but 6 laps ahead of the 3rd placed Mazda and 4th placed Hummer.  To give you an idea what these 24hr TT's are all about here is an atmospheric video from our friends in the Hummer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsfVfr4iwLo&feature=related It's all a bit frenetic sometimes, of course.  The Bowler engine was built on Friday, dyno'd on Monday, collected on Tuesday, fitted on Wednesday, taken to Portugal on Thursday, practiced on Friday, raced on Saturday and won on Sunday!!!  A bit like the Life of Solomon Grundy really :-)

That's what JE do, though!  We didn't get where we are today by Green-Lane-ing on a Sunday afternoon!!!

JE ENGINES POWER LEADING BOWLERS IN 2010 DAKAR!

As has become customary (!!) JE power continues to astonish the Rally-Raid works teams.  Patrick Sireyjol and Yves Fromont of the Team Cummins France equipe finished 19th and 25th respectively in the Argentina/Chile Dakar 2010 in their Bowlers equipped with their JE Rover V8 engines.  Not bad for a power unit that first saw the light of day 50 years ago!  All the cars ahead of Patrick's Bowler were works or works-supported, like VW-Motorsport, BMW X-raid, Mitsubishi and Hummer.

..................................Yes 30% OFF!!

Lest it be thought that JE are a bunch of toffee-nosed egg-heads here's a pic showing the REAL JE ethos at work! Mad? Probably! Innovative? Unquestionably! Fun? Certainly!! Illustrated is JE's Electronics and Systems Manager, Franc "Basher" Buxton with his latest creation, 'Buxton's Buccaneer' (!) being his infamous JE 'Dakar' Classic but now with a supercharged AJV8 "Zulu" engine and running on LPG!! Well done Franc, great work! (Please don't ask for one............ although..............hmm!)

"Hamster" Hammond Gets JE Power to Blitz Clarkson !!

In an idle moment, Colin stuck up a somewhat amateurish video on YouTube!  It is a recent build on a 4.6 for a German Morgan Plus Eight glowing it's exhaust headers merrily on the dyno.  Have a look if you have nothing better to do!! V8 Power

Also, here's a vid of Colin putting the Zulu SVX through its paces at Bruntingthorpe :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrkectlWGw

Happy Land Rovering and watch out for these if you are a JE customer!!
