LPG Conversions

A myriad of companies devote huge websites entirely to their claimed expertise and experience with LPG conversions.  Potential customers should realise the market in which JE operates; high-end performance vehicles, a genre not usually associated with economical environment-friendly modes of transport! JE work up to the highest quality, not down to a price.

In addition to Land rover products (including Range Rover and RR 'Sport' Supercharged, see note below), JE have converted 5 litre Westfields, BMW 750 V12, Subaru Imprezzas, BMW X5 and many other specialist and performance cars.

The running costs of such vehicles can be dramatically reduced by converting to LPG.

LPG is now generally available as popularity has grown, with over 1400 outlets now established nationwide.

However, bear in mind that LPG is injected into the cylinders as a "dry" gas and contains no friction inhibitors or lubricating agents unlike petrol.  This can lead to excessive valve seat wear in high performance, and indeed many 'cooking' engines.  A list of engines known to be susceptible is available from the LPGA. The JLR AJV8 engine, especially in supercharged configuration, has recently been added to this list as more data on high-mileage LPG converted engines has become available. That engine is in good (or bad, depending on your point of view!) company sharing, as it does, listing with such vehicles as the Porsche Cayenne S, Mercedes-Benz A, B and C-Class, Cadillac Escalade and Jeep Grand Cherokee along with very many other lesser marques.  With most normally aspirated cars known to be at risk (i.e. "On The List") fitting a 'FlashLube' system at the same time as the conversion will extend valve-seat life dramatically.  Such a system on the JLR AJV8 normally aspirated should give greatly extended valve seat life but, in the long run, is no substitute for the JE super-hard valve seat conversion (see http://www.jeengineering.co.uk/new-range-rover/petrol-engines.html )  With the supercharged AJV8 variant, JE advise that the modified heads are essential.

Conversion Options

Your vehicle will keep its petrol system for use whenever not using LPG. Your existing fuel tank can be reduced in size to make room for an LPG tank at additional cost, but it is a requirement of a JE conversion that your petrol system is not removed altogether. Prices include a single tank. In the case of toroidal tanks mounted in the spare-wheel recess a "get-you-home" spare can be supplied with a vinyl cover for £240.00 (inc VAT) Bespoke options at extra cost, please enquire.

Sequential systems for vehicles up to 5 years old.

JE use OMVL, Tartarini or Prins sequential injection systems where LPG is introduced through one injector per cylinder. There is therefore no additional restriction in the engine inlet airflow & no reduction in power. While not the cheapest, JE have found these to be the best products on the market
