While this page is entitled "Upgrades" which rightly refers to performance, it is equally applicable to the care and attention with which the engines are built. When comparing prices with other suppliers it should be borne in mind that all JE engines are built to at least Club Motorsport standards. They are not a collection of bog-standard bits thrown together for profit expediency. In addition to the usual "rebore and bearings" as recommended by 'experts'(!) All JE engines are based on a thoroughly cleaned and de-burred block, new core (freeze) plugs and bungs, improved oilways and oil returns; all rotating parts fully balanced, all combustion volumes balanced, re-cut and shaped valve seats, inlet/exhaust tracts smoothed and de-burred AS AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. All this and more on a standard rebuilt engine. Thus, it is usually more cost effective to fit a JE rebuilt engine rather than attempt repairs to individual sub-assemblies which will inevitably result in further repairs sooner rather than later. So, with that in mind JE now offer: The JE ‘Drive-in, Drive-out’ Replacement Engine Package For just £4.550 + VAT you can drive (or tow!) your tired old P38 to JE and we will remove your old engine, completely rebuild it to original spec (and to JE standards) then refit the unit and set it up perfectly ready for you to collect and drive away with full JE warranty. What could be more convenient? We can, if required, upgrade your 4.0 litre engine to 4.6 litre for a small surcharge. The all-in price includes lubricants, filter, spark plugs and service consumables. The price assumes that the major components are in serviceable and exchangeable condition and not the remnants of a grenaded engine! JE have unique experience in the supercharging of the Rover V8 engine. Please enquire for details of these extreme power units. Non-Supercharged RoverV8 Engine Options 1) Air Inlet System. A low restriction ITG 'Maxogen' air filter is located within a baffled off area to exclude hot under bonnet air for maximum induction efficiency. On pre 99 models, we re-programme the GEMS ECU to further improve responsiveness and power. 'Thor' models from 99 on are self adapting. Adds 6 bhp to 4.0L & 10 bhp to 4.6L. Air inlet system - Pre 99 'GEMS' V8 engines- Air inlet system - Post 98 'Thor' V8 engines- 2) Air Inlet & Exhaust System Package. As 1) above together with a JE Stainless Steel sports exhaust, will lift performance by around 10 bhp for 4.0L & 14 bhp for 4.6L. Air Inlet/exhaust system - Pre 99 'GEMS' V8 engines-: Air Inlet/exhaust system - Post 98 'Thor' V8 engines- 3) 'SPORTS' Cylinder Heads & Manifolds. Comprises Gas Flowed heads with balanced combustion chambers, fitted with large JE inlet & exhaust valves, & 'high flow' shaped seats, together with gas flowed inlet manifold & larger air horns (includes all gaskets). Delivers a gain of around 14 bhp for 4.0L & 18 bhp for 4.6L. Sports 'top end'- 4) 'SPORTS' Performance Package. A complete gas-flow power upgrade comprising: Will lift power output by 26 bhp for 4.0L & 32 bhp for 4.6L, delivering a lively response. £3,595 Fitted & Tested 5) JE 'SUPERSPORTS' 5.0 Litre ' Short Engine ' conversion.
